Summer New Look

At the time of this design, i had no idea about Christian Dior's 'New Look', therefore there are no similarities in approach/design or homages to the man himself.
This little number is more like something you might find in New Look.
But i like to think this was way ahead of it's time- I mean, you wouldn't look out of place stepping out into Hyde Park and strolling past the daffodils in this cheery one-piece short suit, teamed with classic footless tights and pink pumps. It's asymetric also- which is so now- scarf, ponytail and bangle all off to one side! Love it!

Here's a little Christmas treat for any Bananarama fans. It's a hot little rah-rah dress, (probably made of something shiny) teamed with black fishnets (again) and some little ankle boots that are back in for 2009/10.
I swear, i just walked past the French connection Christmas window and there was an outfit just like this (but in black).

Roller Girl

Perhaps not as sexy as Rollergirl from Boogie Nights, but this ensemble includes items that i actually owned in real life!!!
I did have a pair of rainbow braces which i wore with a blue t-shirt and a string vest (there are some 80's fashions that should not be resurrected).
My pride and joy however was a pair of suede roller boots (as pictured). They had yellow laces, trims, wheels and stoppers and i loved them dearly. We used to go to a roller-disco at our local sports centre on a Saturday afternoon, which mainly involved skating round in circles to Top40 hits and trying to get the attention of various boys.
This is clearly a functional cotton-based outfit, brown stretch t-shirt with green pedal pushers so there's nothing to obstruct the aerodynamics.

It's a mystery.

Interested in subcultures from an early age! The hair is clearly influenced by Toyah, probably from her 'It's a mystery' look.

A fishnet body suit with turquoise leather waistcoat, shorts and boots. On the outside i was an eleven year old school girl, on the inside i was a cyber-punk/goth!

The funniest thing about this design is that it's drawn on the back of the back of the Parish bulletin!!!

26th November 1980 at St. Anthony's after 7.30 Mass.
The Lent Festival was also recalled:jointly with Leeds East at The Little Sisters on Sunday 2nd March starting with Benediction at 2.45.

See, in those days there were no A4 sheets of printer paper around, artists had to just get it down on whatever paper was to hand.

Hammer Time

Another classic of the disco era. This suit is gold lame (if you can't see that from the rudimentary felt-tip work) teamed with a gold and black sequined boob tube.
Elasticated trouser bottoms with gold stilettos! MC Hammer eat your heart out!
Juliet Waller gave this outfit 2 'A's but only a 'B' for the face because it was 'bad style'.

Oh what a wow!

There were lots of disco suits. I was a big fan of Sister Sledge, Chic etc. This suit's got kind of a Jazz feel to it though. Maybe you would wear it to an 80's piano bar or something. It's very slinky: tight blue satin, cut to the top of the thigh! Phew!
Here's my 11year old review:
This suit is super for the disco. It is made up of a blue silk waistcoat and slit skirt and a red bow tie to match the belt. The red shoes go well with the suit. (Can be worn with or without the t-shirt.)
Apart from some weird colour blindness (or memory problem) there- priceless! Or super maybe.
